Sherlock Holmes is better with...

To celebrate the release of "A Game of Shadows", today I'll mess around with Sherlock Holmes.
The game's afoot! (I always wanted to say that.)

DINOSAURS!
Has been done already.
Seriously. I'm not kidding. There wasa parody... thing that had a T. Rex running around in London.

ZOMBIES!
Someone should write a book about that. I mean, there's "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", and "A Zombie Story for Christmas", and... uh... "Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter ", so... why not: The Adventure of the Walking Corpse?
This is why I shouldn't design covers.

VAMPIRES!
"The Tale of the Sussex Vampire*".
* note: might not contain vampires.

ROBOTS!

What do you mean, that doesn't count?

ALIENS!
Sherlock Holmes. More specifically, he's a Vulcan.

Okay, okay. I'm sure you heard this one already. But I'm sure you haven't heard much proof of it. So, let's see.
  1. The Name
"Sherlock". It sounds Vulcan already. Starts with S, ends in "ock", like Spock.

So does "Sock". All right. Maybe not the name.
  2. The Hat
Did you ever wonder why Sherlock Holmes wore a deerstalker?
    "Because it looks cool". Maybe.
"Because he stalks deer." I think he'd leave that to the vampires. Although they seem to prefer stalking girls.
No, none of that fits. So why did he wear that hat? The answer is elementary, dear reader.
To hide his Vulcan ears. Humanity wasn't ready for a first contact yet.
Only there's a problem with that. In the books, he never wore a deerstalker. So much for that.
It's still a nice theory, though.

NINJAS!
They're already there.
Holmes can see them. You can't.

For more Sherlock Holmes-related stuff:
- Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century. Exactly what it says on the tin. Horrible ear worm of a title theme, robotic Watson... and a ton of catchphrases.
- and for the more supernatural, "A Study in Emerald", by Neil Gaiman. Contains tons of Eldritch Abominations, as it's based on the Ch-... Cthuh-... forget it... that thing with the tentacles mythos.
